Michael Anderson is a Principal of Bregal Partners.

 

Prior to joining Bregal Partners, Mr. Anderson served as a Principal at Lee Equity Partners, which he joined in 2006.  During his tenure, he was involved in the investment of $250 million in equity capital across a number of platform companies and add-on deals, primarily in the healthcare sector, including investments in Universal American and PDR Network.  Mr. Anderson also served on the board of directors of PDR Network.  Prior to joining Lee Equity, Mr. Anderson was a senior Associate Consultant with Bain & Company, which he joined in 2003.

 

Mr. Anderson graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Economics.

Adam is a founding partner of Bregal Capital LLP.

 

Adam is a specialist in financial service investments, including insurance, banking, asset management and specialised lending. He sits on our Investment Committee and our Management Board and on the boards of the following portfolio companies: Canopius, Bluestep, FiveTen, Redstone, Aurigen, Resolution and LR Health & Beauty Systems. He also led our investments in Equity Insurance and TBIH which have both been successfully sold.

 

Before Bregal Capital, Adam worked at Warburg Pincus, Goldman Sachs and The Boston Consulting Group. He graduated from Cambridge University and has a MBA from Insead Business School.

Guilherme Bauer

Mr. Bauer joined Bregal in September 2011 as a Senior Associate.

Prior to joining Bregal, Mr. Bauer worked at Banco Ibi, a financial institution located in Sao Paulo - Brazil, where he was responsible for all treasury activities, including investments, financing, and market and liquidity risk management.

Mr. Bauer holds an MBA from Haas School of Business - University of California - Berkeley, and a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Ibmec Sao Paulo (Insper).

Robert Bergmann

Robert Bergmann is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Bregal Partners. He has more than two decades of experience in the private equity industry and has worked closely with many public and private middle-market companies.

His investment focus is targeted primarily toward investments in the consumer, food & retail, and healthcare industries.

Mr. Bergmann has extensive corporate governance experience, having served on a number of Boards of Directors including those of Covenant Care, LLC, Den-Mat Holdings, LLC, Garden Fresh Holdings, Inc., Orion ICG, LLC, Bravo Sports, Autoland, Inc., Salton, Inc., Ross Aviation, LLC, and Muzak LP.

Prior to founding Bregal Partners, Mr. Bergmann served as a Senior Partner of Centre Partners Management LLC and led the firm's Los Angeles office. He joined Centre in 1989 and during his tenure, the firm invested over $3 billion in equity capital. Prior thereto, Mr. Bergmann worked in the investment banking department of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Mr. Bergmann holds a B.S. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Steven Black

Mr. Black joined Bregal Investments in September 2012. Mr. Black was elected to NASDAQ OMX’s board of directors in December 2011.

 

Mr. Black was the Vice Chairman of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. from March 2010 through February 2011 and a member of the firm’s Operating and Executive committees. Prior to that position, Mr. Black was the Executive Chairman of J.P. Morgan Investment Bank from October 2009 through March 2010. Mr. Black served as a Co-Chief Executive Officer of J.P. Morgan Investment Bank from 2004 through 2009. Mr. Black was the Deputy Co-Chief Executive Officer of J.P. Morgan Investment Bank since 2003. He also served as head of J. P. Morgan Investment Bank’s Global Equities business since 2000 following a career with Citigroup and its predecessor firms.

 

He is a 1974 graduate of Duke University, and has served on the New York Development Council.

Ian Blakely

Since joining Bregal Energy (formerly Good Energies Capital) in 2006, Ian Blakely has led and evaluated investments in thermal power generation, renewable power, biofuels, and oil exploration & production. Ian's current and prior responsibilities include management of the investments in 3TIER, Agile Energy, Champlin-GEI Wind Holdings, Eolectric, Everpower, Insight Energy, Nordic BioEnergy, Second Wind and Sequoia Energy.

Prior to joining Bregal Energy, Ian was the co-founder and CFO of BrightPath, a start-up focused on serving the needs of parents of children with learning disabilities. He helped lead fundraising efforts, development of the strategy and business model and managed a team of experts providing advice to parents.

Previously, Ian was an associate at JPMorgan Partners, a leading global private equity and venture capital fund. While at JPMorgan Partners, he helped build and invested in successful companies in the energy, financial services, and transportation industries. As a former analyst at Morgan Stanley, he also helped advise consumer products companies on mergers, acquisitions and fundraising activities. During his time there, Ian worked on transactions such as the US$18.9 billion sale of Nabisco to Philip Morris and the IPO of Bunge.

Ian received his MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management and completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University earning a B.S. degree in Economics with a focus in Environmental Science and Policy.

John Breckenridge

John Breckenridge is the leader of Bregal Energy (formerly Good Energies Capital). Since joining the fund in 2007 he has managed investments in early stage companies, mid-sized industrial corporations and project development businesses across the Energy sector. John's portfolio responsibilities have included board memberships at Inflection Energy, Atlantic Wind Connection, Sage Electrochromics, Ice Energy, 3-Tier, Sequoia Energy, Solarfun Power, and Solar Reserve, among others.

John joined Bregal Energy from CCMP Capital Advisors (formerly known as J.P. Morgan Partners), where he served as Managing Director in both Tokyo and New York. During his seven years at the firm, John was responsible for investing in and leading many of the firm's portfolio companies in the USA, Asia and Europe. While at CCMP, he led the management of investments in the renewable energy, traditional energy, industrial service, automotive, manufacturing and chemicals sectors, among others. He also provided guidance to western companies expanding into China or other Asian countries.

Prior to joining JP Morgan Partners in Tokyo, John was Chief Operating Officer of Densei Lambda KK, a publicly traded Japanese corporation with 8 factories located around the world and over 4,000 employees. Before that he was the leader of several large divisions of Invensys plc and Exide Electronics in the US. Earlier in his career he held engineering, sales and general management positions at AT&T, and Strafor Facom SA. John holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont.

Louis Brenninkmeijer

Mr. Brenninkmeijer has 20 years of international retail experience. He was CEO of C&A in Japan from 1986 to 1993 and CEO of the American Retail Group (USA) from 1993 to 2000. From 2000 to 2001 he was member of C&A European Executive Board, responsible for the closure of the UK operation.

Since 2001, Mr. Brenninkmeijer has been involved in the setting up of Bregal Investments.

Bernard Brenninkmeijer

Mr. Brenninkmeijer joined Bregal at the beginning of 2003 from First Wilshire Securities Management, where he worked as a micro-cap stock analyst.

Previous positions include associate experience with Egeria, a Dutch mid-market buyout fund, and a range of operational and financial positions with the clothing retailers C&A and ARG in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Pasadena.

Mr. Brenninkmeijer graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a major in Economics and a minor in Computer Applications. Subsequently, he obtained an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Wolter Brenninkmeijer

Mr. Brenninkmeijer is a senior investment professional of Bregal Investments. From 1991 to 2000, he held various commercial and store operating positions with the European clothing retailer C&A in France and Belgium, ending in 1997 as the Executive Board member responsible for all European stores. He then started Agora Business Centers as a subsidiary of Redevco, Cofra Holding's Real Estate Organization. He joined Bregal Investments in 2003 as part of the Fund Investment Team and currently serves on a number of Fund Investment Committees as well as Advisory Boards. From 2004 to 2010 he served on the Cofra Supervisory Board as a Non Executive Director.

Mr. Brenninkmeijer holds an MA of Oxford University studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Pembroke College; subsequently he obtained an MBA from IMD, Lausanne.

Giselle Bright

Ms. Bright joined Bregal in 2012 from PPM Managers, where she was an Associate Director involved in fund and direct investments in Europe and Emerging Markets. Before that, she worked at Deloitte LLP for 6 years in the corporate finance and private equity funds group.

Ms. Bright grew up in Portugal and received an Economics degree from Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She has completed her CFA Level I.

Nathan Campbell

Nathan Campbell has led investments in exploration & production, power, midstream and electric transmission sectors since joining Bregal Energy in 2010. Nathan's current and prior board responsibilities have included Inflection Energy, Iron Mountain Generation, Birchill Exploration, Agile Energy, Atlantic Wind Connection and Nexamp.

Prior to joining Bregal Energy (formerly Good Energies Capital), Nathan worked for Macquarie Capital as an Associate Director in both New York and Sydney. During his six years at the firm, Nathan was involved in principal investments across a number of sectors including renewable energy, smart grid, energy distribution, semiconductors and transportation. Most recently, Nathan was leading Macquarie's solar team in their New York office where he was leading a number of principal and advisory transactions across the sector.

Previously, Nathan worked at Deutsche Bank AG and spent six years in the Aviation sector, where his responsibilities included the financial and operational management of an annual oil usage of approximately 40 million barrels. Additionally, while working in industry, Nathan led key initiatives in a corporate reorganization which resulted in over a threefold increase in EBITDA.

An Australian citizen, Nathan holds a Masters in Applied Finance & Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University.

Li Ling Chang

Prior to joining Bregal, Miss Chang worked within the KPMG Corporate Restructuring team. Her work included providing advice on corporate transactions, capital structures, improvements to cash flow and investment appraisal.

Miss Chang is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a BEng in Electrical Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London.

Sabrina Chaudhury

Sabrina Chaudhury is an Associate of Bregal Partners.

 

Prior to joining Bregal Partners, Ms. Chaudhury was an investment banking analyst in the Consumer Products & Retail Group at UBS in New York, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions as well as equity and debt financing activities.  During her tenure, Ms. Chaudhury was involved in client coverage and strategic transaction execution for mid-cap and large-cap clients across the beverage, consumer food and specialty retail sectors.

 

Ms. Chaudhury graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Chemistry.

Dwight is a Chartered Accountant and graduated from Monash University, Melbourne, with a Bachelor in Economics.

Carina Eastwood

Ms. Eastwood joined Bregal in 2010 from Ernst and Young, where she worked for 5 years in the Corporate Restructuring department. During this time, Ms. Eastwood worked with a number of financially distressed businesses across a diverse range of sectors. Her work involved assessing the financial strength and prospects of companies and trading businesses that were in administration, which involved managing these businesses through an accelerated sales process or towards winding-up.

Ms. Eastwood is a Chartered Accountant and has a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Bristol.

Jan Faber

Mr. Faber joined Bregal in 2004 from Henderson Private Capital, the private equity division of Henderson Global Investors, where he was the head of the global private equity fund of funds business since 2000.

Prior to joining Henderson, Mr. Faber was a private equity specialist for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington D.C. and was involved in managing a US$1 billion emerging markets private equity fund of funds program. Before IFC, Mr. Faber was a senior investment officer for FMO in the Netherlands where he co-founded the private equity group which was involved in direct and fund investments. Mr. Faber began his career as investment manager for Credit Lyonnais in their International Capital Markets Group.

Mr. Faber has a Masters in Management Science and Industrial Engineering from the University of Technology in Eindhoven.

Chuck Flynn

Mr. Flynn joined Bregal in 2004 from Deutsche Asset Management, the asset management arm of Deutsche Bank, a leading global financial service provider, where he was Global Head of the Private Equity Funds Group. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. Flynn worked at the AXA Group, a worldwide leader in financial protection and wealth management, where he founded and managed its €1 billion global private equity fund of funds business.

His investment experience also includes developing investment fund joint ventures for Den norske Bank, Norway's largest financial services firm, arbitrage investing for First City Financial, and leveraged buyout work for Kelso & Company in New York. Before entering the investment field, Mr. Flynn worked as a management consultant for Bain & Company.

Mr. Flynn received a BS in Business Management from the University of California at Berkeley, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He received an MBA from Stanford University, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Adam Fuller is a Vice President at Bregal Sagemount. He is responsible for originating and leading private equity investments in high-growth businesses in the Software, Business Services, and Healthcare sectors. Prior to Bregal Sagemount, Adam spent five years as a member of the Growth Equity team at Goldman Sachs' Merchant Banking Division. Adam has led investments in many successful growth companies, including Cyber-Ark, the leading provider of Privileged Identity Management software, AppSense, the leading provider of User Virtualization software for enterprise desktop management, American Traffic Solutions, the leading provider of photo traffic safety and enforcement solutions, and Imaging Advantage, a market leader in providing comprehensive radiology services to hospitals and radiology groups. Adam was also a Board Observer at Nimsoft, a leading provider of unified IT monitoring systems, which was acquired by CA Technologies in March 2010 for $350 million, as well as CambridgeSoft, the premier developer of knowledge management software to the life sciences industry, which was acquired by PerkinElmer in March 2011. Blair Greenberg is a Vice President at Bregal Sagemount. Prior to Sagemount, Blair was a Vice President at Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV) where he focused on investing in technology and financial services companies. Prior to TCV, Blair worked for UBS Investment Bank in the Financial Institutions Group. Patrik Johnson

Prior to joining Bregal Capital, Patrik worked for Credit Suisse First Boston in London. He graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics with a degree in accounting and financial management, and also completed studies at the university of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Edmund Lazarus

Edmund was a Founding Partner of Bregal Capital from inception in 2002. He sits on our Investment Committee and on the Boards of Cognita, Cerigo, Danwood, Morrison, Novem, QA, Reconomy and Studialis. He led our successfully exited investments in Zephyr and GSL.

Before founding Bregal Capital, Edmund worked at Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, where he was a member of the firm's global Investment Committee, SG Warburg and Merrill Lynch. Edmund graduated from Oxford University with a First Class degree in politics, philosophy and economics, where he also served as President of the Oxford Union.

In parallel with his professional career, Edmund was a publicly-elected official on Westminster City Council from 1992 to 2002, including serving as Deputy Leader and Chairman of Finance. Edmund was nominated by the Mayor of London to Chair the Investment Committee of the London Development Agency from 2008 to 2012 and to help restructure the Agency. Edmund currently Chairs the London Green Fund.

Sofian Lignier

He was originally based in Dubai and worked on a number of M&A and corporate finance transactions as part of their Middle East advisory team. In late 2012 he relocated to London to join their Energy team. Sofian graduated from the Ecole des Mines de Paris with a master’s degree in engineering.

Mr. Lim joined Bregal in August 2008 from KPMG London, where he managed KPMG's Financial, Risk and Data Modelling team within the Financial Services sector.

During his time with KPMG, Mr. Lim trained as a Chartered Accountant and his work included advising clients on corporate transactions, providing solutions in business intelligence, investment appraisals and risk management primarily within the banking, insurance and investment management sectors.

Mr. Lim holds a BEng in Electrical Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London.

Prior to joining Bregal Partners, Mr. Martin was an Analyst in Blackstone’s Restructuring & Reorganization Group in New York, where he advised companies and creditor constituencies across a wide spectrum of sectors.  During his tenure, he was involved in acquisitions, debt and equity financings, in-court restructurings and out-of-court reorganizations.  Most notably, Mr. Martin assisted in the successful reorganization of Lee Enterprises and the sale of TerreStar Networks to Dish Network.


Mr. Martin graduated from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology.

Paul McGill is a Principal of Bregal Partners.

 

Prior to joining Bregal Partners, Mr. McGill spent over seven years in the Energy Investment Banking group of Raymond James & Associates where he completed over 100 strategic transactions including public equity offerings, advisory engagements, and private securities assignments for a wide spectrum of energy industry clients, including oilfield services and equipment companies.  Immediately prior to joining Bregal Partners, he held the title of Vice President.

 

Mr. McGill has a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Olivier Morali

Olivier leads the firm's investment in Studialis and sits on the board of Morrison which he has been involved with since inception. Formerly, he was on the boards of MCi and Cerigo.

Before joining Bregal Capital, Olivier was a Director at Apax Partners in Paris, where for five years he focused primarily on healthcare investments. Prior to that, he worked for Arthur Andersen. Olivier holds a PhD and a doctorate in biology/biochemistry from Paris University and is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Superieure.

Edwin Niers

Mr. Niers joined Bregal in 2002 from the Entrepreneurs Fund, an expansion capital fund, where he worked as a financial analyst.

He spent 10 years with the European clothing retailer C&A, where he worked in a range of functions in the buying, organizational development, marketing, and the finance departments. While working at C&A he lived in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Mr. Niers received an MBA from Groningen University in 1990, and a Master of Law from Groningen University in 1991. He completed a Master of Retail Management (cum laude) from TIAS University Tilburg in 2001.

Before joining Bregal, Max worked in the London office of Hellman & Friedman, a San Francisco based private equity fund. Prior to that, he worked in the investment banking division of JP Morgan, where he focused on M&A and corporate finance transactions. Max graduated from St. Gallen University in Switzerland with a degree in business administration and holds a Master in philosophy and public policy from the London School of Economics and a PhD in political science from the University of Bamberg.

Scott Perekslis is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Bregal Partners. He has more than two decades of experience in the private equity industry and has worked closely with many public and private middle-market companies.

His investment focus is targeted primarily toward investments in the consumer, food & retail, and energy services industries.

Mr. Perekslis has extensive corporate governance experience. He currently serves on the Board of ASG Consolidated LLC (American Seafoods), and he previously has served as a director of Nexus Gas Partners LLC, the Connors Bros. Income Fund, KIK Corporation Holdings, Inc., K2 Pure Solutions, L.P., and Firearms Training Systems, Inc. He also has served previously as the Chairman of the Board of Bumble Bee Holdings, L.P., Connors Bros., L.P., Gray Energy Services LLC, and Hyco International, Inc.

Prior to founding Bregal Partners, Mr. Perekslis served as a Senior Partner of Centre Partners Management LLC, which he joined in 1991; during his tenure, the firm invested more than $3 billion in equity capital. Prior thereto, he worked in the mergers and acquisitions department of Lazard Freres & Co.

Mr. Perekslis holds an A.B. from Princeton University.

Gilles Pun-Lai-Yuen

Mr. Pun-Lai-Yuen joined Bregal in February 2005 as a financial analyst. Working together with the investment teams, he is responsible for the analysis and appraisal of potential investments by Bregal as well as the on-going monitoring of Bregal's investment portfolio.

Previously, Mr. Pun-Lai-Yuen joined KPMG London in 1994 where he trained as a Chartered Accountant. During his last four years at KPMG, Mr. Pun-Lai-Yuen was responsible for KPMG's Financial Sector business modeling services. His work included advising clients on corporate transactions, providing solutions in business strategy, investment appraisals, financing structures and corporate restructuring primarily within the banking, insurance, investment management and private equity sectors.

Mr. Pun-Lai-Yuen has a BSc in Economics and Computing from the London School of Economics.

Christina Scalzo joined the Bregal Energy investment team in January 2012. Christina's responsibilities include originating, executing and managing investments across the energy sector. Christina currently sits on the boards of Atlantic Wind Connection and Sequoia Energy.

Prior to joining Bregal Energy (formerly Good Energies Capital), Christina was an Associate at Energy Capital Partners in Short Hills, NJ. While at Energy Capital Partners, Christina focused primarily on investments in the midstream and solar sectors. She also evaluated investment opportunities across the broader power, coal, and energy services sectors.

Christina began her career as an Analyst in the Global Natural Resources Group within the investment banking division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, NY. Christina worked on corporate advisory and capital markets transactions for a range of clients including MLPs, energy corporations, diversified utilities, water utilities, and financial sponsors.

Christina received a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with concentrations in Finance, Global Analysis, and Management, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Before joining Bregal, Florian was a Principal at Towerbrook Capital Partners in London after having originally started in private equity with Bregal Capital. Prior to that, he was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company in their private equity practice in London. Earlier in his career Florian was a member of the management board of Surplex AG, an innovative industrial equipment auctioneering business based in Germany, which he co-founded in 1999. Florian graduated in law from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, and received his M.B.A. from INSEAD.

Skyler joined Bregal Energy from the Power, Utilities, and Renewables Group at Macquarie Capital in New York. At Macquarie, he primarily focused on project financings and development across the power and renewables sectors. In addition, he assisted in buy-side and sell-side advisory processes for a variety of M&A, and public and private equity offerings.

Skyler grew up in San Diego, California and graduated cum laude from Duke University with a B.A. in Energy and Ecological Economics.

Quentin Van Doosselaere

Quentin Van Doosselaere joined Bregal in January 2009. Following his business school graduation in 1984, he moved to New York and began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He then joined Bankers Trust Co. as a Managing Director and ran various global capital markets businesses. In the mid-nineties, he held executive positions in a number of non-profit organizations before going into academia. He was affiliated with Columbia University and Oxford University when he joined Bregal.

Quentin serves as a member on the investment committees of Bregal Capital, Bregal Sagemount, Bregal Partners, Bregal Energy, Bregal Private Equity Partners, Ranch Capital Investment, Birchill Exploration and Centre Bregal Partners.

Quentin holds a degree from the Solvay Business School and a PhD from Columbia University.

Daryl Yap

Mr. Yap joined Bregal in 2010 from Merrill Lynch, where he was part of the North America Leveraged Finance Group executing leveraged buyouts, corporate acquisitions, refinancings and debtor-in-possession financings across various industries. Prior to that, Mr. Yap served two and a half years in the Singapore Armed Forces as a Sergeant in the Bridging Engineer Battalion.

Before Great Hill Partners, Philip was an Associate at Carousel Capital, a middle market LBO firm headquartered in Charlotte, NC where he worked on transactions in franchising, healthcare, industrials and communications. Gene Yoon is the Managing Partner of Bregal Sagemount. Prior to founding Bregal Sagemount, he was the Head of Private Equity for Goldman, Sachs & Co.'s Americas Special Situations Group, where he focused on middle market and growth equity investing. Before Goldman Sachs, Gene was a Partner at Great Hill Partners, a PE firm specializing in media/communications, technology and business services. Earlier in his career, he was Director of Corporate Development at Geocast Network Systems, a venture-backed technology infrastructure provider. Gene began his career at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in investment banking, and he holds both a Bachelors in Economics and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Since joining Bregal Energy (formerly Good Energies Capital) in their New York office in 2011, Harris helped lead Bregal Energy's review and progression in the traditional energy (power generation, E&P, midstream, services, etc.) and bioenergy sectors. Harris sits on the board of Iron Mountain Generation, Nordic BioEnergy, and Insight Energy.

Prior to joining Bregal Energy, Harris worked at LS Power Equity Advisors, an energy private equity fund as a member of the acquisition and finance team. In addition, Harris actively managed six natural gas-fired combined cycle and peaking power plants in the Northeast and Midwest, where he oversaw plant management and staff and managed all aspects of the power facility including plant operations, daily bid parameters, and optimization opportunities. Before joining LS Power, Harris worked in the Energy Group within the Investment Banking Division at Credit Suisse in New York, where he worked with a broad range of transactions in the power, oil and gas, MLP, and chemical industries.
